Swire Blue Ocean has won the contract to install 84 Siemens 7MW turbines at the 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm off the Caithness coast.
The German turbine manufacturer awarded the contract to Swire under its EPCI role on the £2.6bn SSE-led project. The deal was first reported by the subscriber-only reNEWS last month.
Both Swire jack-ups Pacific Osprey or Pacific Orca are available to tackle the work with Siemens having the final call on which vessel to deploy.
Turbine installation will begin in 2018 in the outer Moray Firth.
“The contract adds to the pipeline of projects that Swire Blue Ocean has secured for its fleet of wind farm installation vessels,” the company said.
General manager and director Lars Blicher added: “Swire Blue Ocean is pleased to support the Beatrice offshore wind farm project and to further strengthen our relationship with Siemens.”
