Swiss offshore geotechnical engineering and drilling company Geoquip Marine’s recently upgraded Geoquip Speer vessel has been contracted for work on an unnamed offshore wind farm in the US.
The contract for the “largest offshore wind farm development in the US” is for seabed cone penetration testing (CPT) work, the company said.

Geoquip Marine said the upgrade made the vessel suitable for international DP operations.
The refit included fitting a heave-compensated offshore geotechnical drilling rig and the GMC201 deepwater seabed CPT unit.
GMC201 is a 20-tonne seabed unit designed to conduct an array of in-situ tests in either shallow or deep water, the company said.
