Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs has proposed a 13% cut to its offshore wind feed-in tariff.
The ministry wants to set a flat-rate in 2019 of NT$5106 ($165.9) per megawatt-hour covering 20 years, down from the 2018 rate of NT$5849/MWh.

The tariff rates set by the government are used to determine power purchase agreements between state utility Taipower and the developers of the 3836MW of projects awarded capacity in April in the FiT tender.
All of the successful projects, due online by 2025, are currently in PPA negotiations.
The final rate is expected to be announced by the year-end following consultation.
Any rate cut would not affect 1664GW of projects awarded capacity in the later Taiwanese auction, which was a competitive bid process.
