State-owned Taiwan Power Company has set up a business unit to specifically focus on the development of offshore wind projects.
The company’s first project will be a 110MW wind farm 8km off the coast of Changhua on the west side of the island.
The project will cost approximately $616m, the company said.
It said it has plans to install about 1GW offshore.
