Offshore Wind Consultants (OWC) is to provide technical due diligence for an unnamed Taiwanese renewables company to assess turbine installation vessel suitability for work in the Taiwan Strait.
The consultancy said the contract is its first in the Taiwanese offshore wind sector.
The value of the contract has not been undisclosed.
OWC managing director Ian Bonnon said: “Offshore wind is growing rapidly in Taiwan and elsewhere in Asia.
“The installation challenges and therefore the lessons are similar to those in Europe and we bring considerable experience from this market, which is why we were chosen for this assignment.”
Taiwan is aiming for 600MW of offshore wind capacity by 2020, and 3GW by 2030, the consultancy said.
