A northern powerhouse offshore wind trade mission will visit the USA later this week led by Team Humber Marine Alliance in partnership with UK Trade & Investment.
The mission, which arrives on 27 February, will meet with Deepwater Wind, the US developer of the Block Island wind farm, and Dong Energy.
It will also attend the USA Offshore Wind Leadership Conference in Boston, which will highlight opportunities in offshore wind states including Delaware, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York and Rhode Island.
Meetings will also take place with supply chain companies, and a networking event will be held at the British Embassy in Washington.
Companies on the mission include Atkins, Danbrit Shipping, Deep Ocean, GEV Offshore, Hughes Sub Surface Engineering and Siemens Transmission.
Team Humber Marine Alliance chief executive officer Mark O’Reilly (pictured) said: “This mission gives an outstanding business development opportunity for local companies who are considering, or already in, the burgeoning US offshore wind power market.
“As a business development organisation we have been keenly aware of the need to amplify the business expertise on the Humber into export markets – and getting into the US market at this development stage could, hopefully, reap very real and long lasting rewards.
The US mission follows an inward mission to the UK at the end of 2015 by NovaVis and the Virginia Offshore Wind Coalition.
