Tekmar Energy has completed a contract for DeepOcean to deliver cable protection for the 25MW WindFloat Atlantic floating offshore wind farm off the coast of Portugal.
The UK company said it had delivered over 6.5km of cable protection that weighed more than 6.5 tonnes.
Tekmar Group chief executive James Ritchie said: “We are proud of this project not only due to the successful completion by Tekmar Energy, but also as it demonstrates the world leading capabilities in the region, and as chairman of EnergiCoast I am keen to shout about the expertise in the north east of England.”
DeepOcean said: “We have always had a very good relationship with Tekmar and enjoy working together.
“Having this cluster of expertise in the north east aids our ability to react and tackle the future industry challenges together.”
DeepOcean had itself been contracted by Hengtong Group, which delivered the export cables for the project.
WindFloat Atlantic will comprise three MHI Vestas V164-8.4MW turbines installed on ballasted, triangular semi-submersible platforms supplied by Principle Power.
Other members of the WindPlus consortium developing the project include EDPR, Engie and Repsol.
