TenneT has completed commissioning of the 900MW DolWin5 offshore grid connection, linking the Borkum Riffgrund 3 wind farm to the onshore station in Emden, Germany.
The system includes a 130km high-voltage direct current cable and the offshore platform DolWin epsilon.
TenneT said commissioning began as planned in autumn following the successful summer installation campaign led by general contractor ANS, a consortium of Aibel and Seatrium, alongside Hitachi Energy and Prysmian.
All ancillary systems were put into operation on schedule, paving the way for the converter and high-voltage components to undergo dynamic testing.
The company confirmed that DolWin5 is now fully energised and ready to transmit power from the Borkum Riffgrund 3 wind farm, where connection works and testing are progressing in parallel.
TenneT thanked its partners and project teams for their commitment and expertise in delivering the milestone.
