Grid operator TenneT has installed the first offshore export cable for Orsted’s 752MW Borssele 1&2 project in the Dutch North Sea.
Boskalis installed the NKT-made wire using its Giant 7 construction vessel late last week and will soon add a second export cable, TenneT said.

The cables run from TenneT’s Borssele Alpha HVAC substation to shore.
Dutch fabrication yard HSM Offshore is currently fabricating the 3,700-tonne topside for the project and will load out the structure in August this year.
The unit’s jacket foundation was installed by Seaway Heavy Lifting last summer and the same contractor will return to the project to fit the Alpha topside later this year.
Borssele 1&2 will feature 94 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines and is due online in 2020.
