Tele-Fonika Kable (TFK) and JDR Cable Systems (JDR), have been awarded the land and subsea cable contract with Orlen Group and Northland Power for the 1200MW Baltic Power offshore wind farm in Poland.

Together with partners NKT and DEME Offshore, they will design, manufacture, and install 340km of land and subsea cables.

Located 23km to the north of the Polish coastline, on the level of Choczewo and Łeba, Baltic Power has a wind farm area of approximately 130 square kilometres which will feature 76 wind turbines each with a generating capacity of 15MW.

The project is scheduled to be fully operational by 2026.

TFK will manufacture and install 230kV land power cables and cores for inter-array cables at its manufacturing facility in Bydgoszcz.

As a consortium partner, NKT will develop the offshore export cables for the project – delivering power from the offshore substations to the shore.

TFK will manage the transportation and installation of the onshore cable section within the Baltic wind farm.

At its state-of-the-art Hartlepool facility in the UK, JDR will design and manufacture 66kV inter-array cables, that will be used to connect the 76 offshore turbines to the offshore substation.

DEME Offshore will be responsible for the transportation and installation of all subsea cables.

The manufacture and delivery of all cables will be completed by the end of 2025.

Tele-Fonika Kable board member and and director of the supply chain and investment office at JDR Cable Systems, Piotr Mirek said: “Baltic Power is an innovative wind energy project which will support the acceleration of our energy transition in Poland.

“Our power house of capabilities covering both subsea and land cables have enabled us to secure this contract and we are delighted to be able to supply the high-quality assets that will support in delivering clean energy to millions of homes across Poland.

“Our collaboration with NKT and DEME Offshore will bolster these efforts – providing clean energy for future generations.”
