A subsidiary of Thai outfit Electricity Generating Public Company is to acquire a 25% stake in the 640MW Yunlin offshore wind farm off Taiwan.
The subsidiary, Greenwind Energy, expects the deal to close in the first quarter of 2020, subject to completing certain conditions including approval by the Taiwanese authorities.

Yunlin is currently owned by German company WPD (73%) and 27% by a Sojitz Corporation-led consortium, which also includes Chugoku Electric Power, Chudenko Corporation, Shikoku Electric Power and JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation.
The wind farm will be built off the west coast of Taiwan and will feature 80 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines.
Project completion is scheduled in December 2021.
