Three US states have postponed the deadline for bids in their upcoming offshore wind procurement rounds.
Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut are extending their respective offshore wind request for proposals schedules from the originally planned 31 January, 2024 to 27 March.
Under the new timetable, selection of projects will now take place by 7 August instead of June, with contracts executed by 9 October.
The new schedule also includes offers for Multi-State Bids, which allow developers to make proposals with power supplies and other benefits shared out among the three states.
The extension aims to provide interested bidders with the possibility of further guidance from the IRS regarding key tax credits that are available to offshore wind projects, including the Energy Communities 10% bonus.
