Dutch transmission system operator Tennet has installed the Borssele Beta topside off the Netherlands.
Seaway Heavy Lifting hoisted the 3,700-tonne converter station into position 22km off the Zeeland coast using its Seaway Strashnov crane vessel on Tuesday morning.
The topside was added to a 2,950-tonne jacket installed by Seaway last year. Both were produced by HSM Offshore facilities in Schiedam.
Borssele Beta will export power from the Blauwwind Consortium’s 731.5MW Borssele 3&4 project in Dutch waters.
Van Oord is currently installing foundations for the Borssele 3&4 project and has added 66 of 77 Sif-made monopiles featuring intergrated transition pieces at the project.
The foundations will support MHI Vestas V164-9.5MW turbines which Van Oord will install at the project later this year.
