TotalEnergies closes on two Danish offshore farms

TotalEnergies has closed a deal to acquire a majority stake in two Danish offshore wind projects, Jammerland Bay and Lillebælt South, from European Energy and SONFOR.

The developer has purchased 85% of the share capital in the 240MW Jammerland Bay offshore wind project and 72.2% of the share capital in the 165MW Lillebælt South coastal wind project.

European Energy and SONFOR will continue to be minority owners in Lillebælt South, and European Energy will continue to be a minority owner in Jammerland Bay offshore wind farm.

Martin Rune Pedersen, Country Chair of TotalEnergies Denmark said: ” Both the Kalundborg and Sønderborg areas are undergoing rapid industrial development, and we expect the demand for green power to increase significantly in the years ahead.”

European Energy chief Knud Erik Andersen added: “We believe that TotalEnergies has the know-how and commitment to ensure that the projects will be a great success.”

Ellen Trane Nørby, Chairman of SONFOR, said: “We have worked with the Lillebælt South offshore wind farm for 14 years and believe that TotalEnergies is the perfect partner to implement the project.”

“We look forward to the inauguration in 2029, where it will be an important factor in Sønderborg Municipality’s efforts to become climate neutral”, Nørby said.

Back in January 2024, European Energy and TotalEnergies signed a strategic agreement to develop offshore wind projects in the Nordics including Denmark, Finland and Sweden.
