Both partners will also jointly develop new services including marine warranty surveying.

TÜV SÜD and Tractebel DOC have already entered into an agreement with the French electricity network operator Réseau de Transport d’Electricité.

They have collaborated on three export cable projects to connect the first French offshore wind farms Banc de Guérande Saint-Nazaire, Fécamp and Courseulles-Sur-Mer with more than 150 wind turbines.

Now the two companies want to expand and deepen their joint activities for a CO2-neutral future and thus also support the sustainable development goals and in particular SDG 17 of the United Nations.

With more than 25,000 employees in around 50 countries, TÜV SÜD is one of the world’s leading testing and certification companies.

The company extensive and interdisciplinary skills and experience in the field of onshore and offshore wind energy.

The range of services includes tests, inspections and assessments of wind turbines and substations as well as their technical subsystems and components.

They support planners, manufacturers, installers, investors and operators throughout the entire life cycle – from project development and design through manufacture, installation and operation to continued operation and dismantling.

Tractebel DOC Offshore is a worldwide consultant in the field of development and implementation of projects in the field of renewable energy, primarily offshore wind and submarine cable projects.

In addition to engineering tasks in the various phases of a project, the experts at DOC also take on monitoring functions in the production of components and on board the ships during offshore operations.

TÜV SÜD’s industry service division chief executive Reiner Block said: “I am very pleased about this cooperation.

“With our joint international and interdisciplinary expertise and our independence, we can offer comprehensive service packages and innovative services that are tailored to the specific needs of customers in the offshore wind energy sector and take the decarbonization of our energy supply one step further.”

Tractebel DOC Offshore managing director Oliver Spalthoff added: “DOC has been offering independent expertise in all areas and project phases of an offshore wind farm since 2009.

“The cooperation between TÜV SÜD and Tractebel DOC creates a strong and comprehensive service portfolio with further international market opportunities.

“With this reliable partnership, we will also be well positioned for our home market of Germany in the coming years.”
