Trade body RenewableUK was part of a delegation of the UK offshore wind supply chain that held a meeting with government officials at 10 Downing Street this morning.
The delegation met with Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) officials and Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change Greg Hands.
News of the meeting was first reported in today’s issue of the subscriber-only newsletter reNEWS.
R-UK chief executive Dan McGrail said: “Growing the supply chain in the UK is faced with some key obstacles, so it is great that government was listening to our ideas today.
“In years to come, here’s hoping today’s meeting was a step in unlocking a vibrant supply chain shipping our products and know how around the world.”
He added that “if we can harness our huge innovation capability, target interventions in the right places and intelligently identify where we differentiate British technology, we can become a world leader in technology as well as deployment”.
Companies also present at the meeting were Able UK, Aker Offshore Wind, Associated British Ports, Blue Gem Wind, GE Renewable Energy, Global Energy Group Global Marine Group, JDR Cable Systems, ORE Catapult, Principle Power, RWE, SeAH Steel Offshore Foundation, Smulders, Subsea 7, Shell Energy, Siemens Gamesa, Vestas and Vattenfall.
