Government agency Innovate UK is launching a competition to win a share of £19m to innovative infrastructure systems solutions in areas such as offshore wind.
The funding aims to enable innovative technology take the final step to market readiness by proving repeatable financing and business cases, as well as the delivery of expected outcomes in a real-world environment.
The competition targets the agency’s priorities for the sector, including energy systems, nuclear fission, offshore wind, connected transport, as well as smart, resilient and sustainable integrated infrastructure.
Specifically, it is looking for innovations that will result in substantial reductions in the cost of energy from offshore wind.
A briefing event will take place on 12 July and the registration deadline is 24 August, a notice shows.
The ‘First of Kind Deployment of Innovation’ competition is part of a wider £57.5m funding boost for the UK’s energy and infrastructure, biomedical and quantum technology sectors unveiled yesterday.
