The UK Planning Inspectorate has accepted Vattenfall’s planning application for the 1800MW Norfolk Boreas wind farm off east England.
Authorities will now assess the consent request for the project. A final planning decision is expected next year.
Vattenfall is proposing to deploy a minimum of 90 turbines potentially with up to 350-metre tips. The Norfolk Boreas development area is 73km off the Norfolk coast.
Power will come ashore at Happisburgh and be exported to the National Grid substation near Necton via a 60km underground transmission cable.
Sister project Norfolk Vanguard, also proposed by Vattenfall, is already in planning.
The UK Planning Inspectorate has completed examination of the site, located 47 kilometres off the east coast of England.
The Planning Inspectorate will send its recommendation to the UK Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy by 30 September and a final decision is due by 10 December.
