UK offshore and onshore wind farms set a new record yesterday, generating more than 10GW for the first time, according to RenewableUK.
R-UK, citing National Grid figures, said 10.104GW was achieved between 2pm and 2.30pm on 7 December, providing 23% of the country’s total electricity demand.
R-UK executive director Emma Pinchbeck said: “It’s terrific to see wind power smashing another record.
“It shows that wind is playing an increasingly central role as a reliable part of our new modern energy system.”
