For the first time the UK’s wind turbines have generated more than half of the country’s electricity.
Strong winds caused by Storm Bella led to the nation’s wind farms contributing 50.67% of power on 26 December, according to Drax Electric Insights.

It said the previous record was 50% on 21 August 2020.
