A US district court judge will issue a ruling today in Equinor’s challenge against President Donald Trump’s shutdown of the 810MW Empire Wind 1 project off the coast of New York.
District Judge for Washington, D.C. Carl Nichols ordered parties to appear for a hearing at 11:00 a.m. (Washington, D.C. time) where he will issue an oral order regarding Equinor’s request for an injunction blocking enforcement of the shutdown order, according to a court communication.
An injunction would allow Equinor to resume work on the project.
Earlier this week Orsted won an injunction against the Trump administration over the shutdown of the 704MW Revolution Wind.
Equinor said in an earlier court filing that if the stop-work order is not lifted by Friday, 16 January that the project would “likely” face cancellation.
Heerema’s heavy-lift vessel Sleipnir is scheduled to lift Empire’s substation topside and install it on the jacket by 26 January.
