The Trump Administration has offered buyouts to other companies holding US offshore wind leases in exchange for oil and gas investments, the Financial Times has reported.
The federal government has had talks with other developers aimed at reaching a deal similar to the one announced by TotalEnergies last week, in which the French oil major handed back a pair of leases in exchange for the nearly $1bn the company originally paid in lease fees.

Total said it would invest an equal amount in developing oil and gas projects in the US.
Altogether there are some 43 offshore wind leases held by developers in American waters.
