Vattenfall has chosen the harbour of Hvide Sande in Denmark as its operations and maintenance base for its Vesterhav South and North offshore wind farms.
In 2019, Hvide Sande was designated as Vattenfall’s service port for the Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm (pictured).
Once the two latest projects come online, the Port of Hvide Sande will service a total of 90 offshore wind turbines and a fossil-free electricity production corresponding to the electricity consumption for 800,000 Danish households.
Vattenfall project director for operation and maintenance, offshore wind, Kristian Sorgenfri Jensen said: “First and foremost, the location of the harbour is important, and here Hvide Sande is very well located to be able to service the North Sea South and North.
“In addition, we have been looking for a lasting, flexible partner who can be an active partner for many years to come.
“We have found this in Hvide Sande Harbor.”
