Vattenfall is expected to deliver first power by late January or early February from the 605MW Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm off Denmark, having secured the final permitting for the project.
The Danish Energy Agency (DEA) said Vattenfall has been granted a power generation permit on 21 January for the wind farm, which in total will feature 72 Siemens Gamesa 167-8.4MW turbines.
The electricity generation permit is granted under Section 29 of the Renewable Energy Promotion and Power Generation Licence act granted under Section 10 of the Electricity Supply Act, DEA said.
It added that an electricity generation grant for the wind farm has also been signed with Vattenfall.
Denmark’s Minister for Climate, Energy and Supply Dan Jorgensen said: “It is a milestone for Danish wind energy that Krigeers Flak, the largest Danish offshore wind farm to date, can now use the Baltic Sea’s fresh wind to produce green power.
“Green energy is crucial for the climate-neutral society of the future, and with the flow from Kriegers Flak’s offshore wind turbines, Denmark is once again emerging as a pioneer in the use of wind energy.”
The offshore wind farm must be fully connected by 31 December 2021.
