Vattenfall and the Aberdeen Science Centre (ASC) are teaming up to deliver a series of public events providing information on various aspects of offshore wind and technology.
The events will run until September 2018 and will be rolled out to schools and nurseries in the Aberdeen region.
The programme is already underway with the launch of a two-month energy-focused exhibition, which includes turbine and foundation demonstrations.
Vattenfall will also showcase the innovation and technology that is being deployed at the 92.4MW Aberdeen Bay offshore wind farm at ASC’s annual activity weekend on 11–12 February.
ASC chief executive Liz Hodge said: “We’re keen to engage our local communities, schools, and people in what this kind of energy means for us as a population.
“We also hope to engage people in the project, allow them to think about career options in renewables and more generally expand knowledge when it comes to energy.”
Aberdeen Bay project director Adam Ezzamel said: “We want people in the region to learn about the technology behind the scheme and given ASC’s place as a pioneering site of science discovery, linking up with the centre is the perfect fit to help educate children, teachers and the wider community about wind energy generation and cutting-edge technology.”
