Vattenfall and Polish chemicals company Synthos have signed a memorandum of understanding to cooperate on offshore wind power in Poland and the Baltic States.
Synthos chief executive Zbigniew Warmuz said: “Sustainable development and increase of the share of emission-free energy in industrial production are the most important targets for Synthos Group.
“With such experienced partner as Vattenfall, we can change the polish economy and make deep-decarbonisation real.”
Vattenfall head of offshore wind Catrin Jung (pictured) said: “We believe collaborations between industry and energy companies are an important step forward in our aim to enable fossil free living.
“After speaking with the Synthos team this is something we are both very much aligned on.”
The companies noted that the MoU comes after countries bordering the Baltic Sea – Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, Latvia, Finland, Sweden, Germany and Denmark – signed a declaration to cooperate regional on offshore wind.
Jung said: “Big appreciation that all Baltic countries signed a declaration to develop cost-efficient and environmentally sustainable deployment of offshore wind.
“This is a big step for offshore wind in Baltic sea and for climate.”
