VBMS cable-laying vessel Ndurance will arrive at the site of the 336MW Galloper offshore wind farm around 30 April to install the second and final export cable.
The vessel (pictured) will set up about 300 metres off the Suffolk coast at Sizewell Beach and is expected to remain there for seven days, depending on the weather, while the cable is installed.
Once the work is completed the site will be demobilised in the summer, and the beach returned to its original condition, the developers said.
Galloper Wind Farm project director Toby Edmonds said: “We installed the first export cable last year so have been through this process once before.
“Due to the nature of the work much of it has to be done during favourable tidal and weather conditions and this year some of that work does coincide with public holidays but we will of course do our best to minimise any disruption whilst construction activity is ongoing.”
Galloper is a joint equity partnership between Innogy UK, UK Green Investment Bank, Siemens Financial Services, Macquarie Capital and Sumitomo Corp.
The wind farm will consist of Siemens 6MW turbines and is expected to start operating in March 2018.
