A consortium of VBMS and NKT Cables have won a contract from TenneT to supply and install two export cables for the 700MW Borssele Beta grid link in the Dutch North Sea.
The deal covers two 67km export cables that will connect the Borssele 3&4 offshore wind farm off the coast of the Netherlands to the Dutch onshore grid.
In addition, VBMS will install a seven kilometre cable between the Borssele Beta substation and the Borssele Alpha substation, which connects the Borssele 1&2 wind farm to the mainland grid.
The contract value for VBMS is approximately €70m.
The company was awarded the Borssele Alpha contract in November 2016, with an option for the Borssele Beta job.
The four export cables will be routed via the Western Scheldt estuary and will come ashore near the existing HV substation at Borssele.
Borssele Alpha will come online in 2019, followed by Borssele Beta in 2020.
