Seajacks jack-up Scylla has installed more than one third of the 67 XXL monopiles at the 402MW Veja Mate offshore wind farm in the German North Sea
The vessel (pictured) has installed 24 of the 1300T monopiles since Offshore WindForce (OWF) started construction in April.
Work on the transition pieces is set to start next week and will be completed independently from the monopiles.
The project is scheduled to be fully operational in 2018.
The Veja Mate shareholders are Siemens Financial Services, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Highland Group Holdings.
The wind farm’s foundation package manager Rasmus Miller said: “It’s quite an achievement to maintain installation speed of the world’s heaviest monopile with a newly-built mega jack-up vessel and balance the requirements from the authorities.
“After an initial learning curve, speed picked-up and on the 28 May OWF was able to complete installation of two monopiles in a single day.”
Offshore WindForce is a joint venture between Boskalis and Volker Stevin International.
