The developers of the 800MW Vineyard Wind offshore development off the coast of Massachusetts have submitted a final environmental impact report to the state regulator.
Endorsement of the report by the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs would be the final step in the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act review process, they said.
The report is focused on the Vineyard Wind connector, which is comprised of subsea and subsurface electrical transmission lines and a new substation that will connect the wind farm to the Massachusetts grid.
Public comment is open until 25 January, Vineyard Wind said.
Earlier this month, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) issued a Notice of Availability for the project’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement, which was prepared as part of the agency’s review of the project.
The statement analyses potential environmental impacts associated with the Vineyard Wind development.
BOEM is holding five public meetings next month, with a public comment period open until 22 January.
Vineyard Wind said the reports move the project forward to obtain all necessary approvals by summer 2019.
Vineyard Wind is a 50:50 venture between Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners and Avangrid Renewables.
