CIP and Avangrid’s joint venture Vineyard Wind has removed approximately 17 cubic yards of debris from the shore of the Massachusetts island of Nantucket, following blade damage that took place on Saturday, 13 July.
Vineyard Wind said that the debris is enough to fill more than six truckloads.
The clean up efforts will continue through the week “as necessary until all the debris is removed.”
Vineyard Wind increased its beach patrols on the island to 35 employees and contractors.
“We continue to ask that members of the public avoid handling any of the debris, but report any debris sightings to Vineyard Wind or town officials for recovery,” Vineyard Wind CEO Klaus Moeller said in a release.
“The public can have confidence that we will be here as long as it takes to get the job done and make sure the beaches are cleaned up,” he said, and thanked local government.
The project said that beaches have been reopened to swimming, and Vineyard Wind will continue to monitor the beaches at seven different beaches on the island.
The joint venture has contracted Robert B. Our, a local construction firm, and National Resource Corporation, an emergency response contractor, to lead cleanup operations.
