VolkerInfra has completed HDD duct works at Dong Energy’s 258MW Burbo Bank 2 offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea.
The specialist cabling and pipeline contractor finished work that will be used during connection of the extension project in North Wales to the National Grid.
HDD travelled under the Rhyl railway line, a caravan park and the A548.
VolkerInfra project manager Neil Gibbons said: “There was a lot to think about in this job – not only were we going under an operational railway line, caravan park, road and golf club, we also had the sea defence structure to contend with.
“Although it had its challenges, it was great to deliver a pivotal part of the wind farm extension for Dong.”
Dong appointed the group under a joint venture, with sister company VBMS, as part of a major extension project for the wind farm.
VolkerInfra is now completing a separate contract for onshore cabling.
