VolkerInfra has won contract to provide onshore cabling at the 336MW Galloper Offshore wind farm off the coast of Suffolk.
The company will design, supply, install and pre-commission two 132kV onshore export cables, six 132kV cable circuits in the Galloper substation and two 132kV cables to connect the project to its new substation at Sizewell.
A further two 132kV offshore cables and six 33kV circuits are also part of the deal with GE’s Grid Solutions. VolkerInfra said the deal would be worth at least £5m.
The company’s technical development director Peter Cooke said: “Following on from the successful delivery of our first 132kV project for GE’s Grid Solutions at Salle Substation, we are really excited to have been selected to support them on this much larger and more complex scheme.
“We are looking forward to establishing our site presence later this month.”
Galloper is owned by RWE Innogy UK, UK Green Investment Bank, Siemens Financial Services and Macquarie Capital and will feature 56 Siemens 6MW turbines.
Construction is already underway and the wind farm will commence operations in March 2018.
