The Blauwwind consortium has kicked off installation of turbines at the 77-unit Borssele 3&4 project in the Dutch North Sea.
Van Oord jack-up Aeolus is putting in the MHI Vestas V164-9.5MW turbines in an operation that is scheduled to last for the rest of the year.
Turbines have been loaded out from the Vlissingen pre-assembly site in the Netherlands (see video below).
Van Oord wrapped up foundation installation at the 732MW project last month.
The Dutch contractor’s Nexus is laying array cables.
Van Oord is responsible for the design, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the foundations and inter-array cables as the project’s balance of plant contractor.
The Blauwwind consortium is developing Borssele 3&4. It consists of Partners Group (45%), Shell (20%), DGE (15%), Eneco Group (10%) and Van Oord (10%).
Borssele 3&4 is being built 22km off the coast of the Province of Zeeland and will be one of the largest offshore Dutch wind farms when operational later this year.
