Windar has completed 90% of the manufacturing work on 50 transition parts for Ibedrola’s 476MW Baltic Eagle offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.
The parts, which connect the wind turbine towers to the monopile foundations, are being produced at Windar’s facilities in Avilés.
Productions of the TPs, which are 15 metres high and weight 240 tonnes each, will continue until the year-end.
Around 30 suppliers in Spain are participating in the manufacturing process, including steel production, components, equipment, testing and auxiliary machinery.
Windar has also been contracted to supply TPs to Iberdrola’s 800MW Vineyard Wind 1 project off the coast of Massachusetts and manufactured the piles for 500MW Saint-Briuec off France in partnership with Navantia.
