ScottishPower Renewables has awarded HSM Offshore Energy an EPCIC contract for the 960MW East Anglia 2 offshore substation and jacket foundation.

HSM Offshore Energy will deliver a 5,100mt offshore high-voltage substation and a 3,700mt jacket foundation for the project, located off the Suffolk coast.

Initial engineering work began in summer 2024 under an early work agreement.

Construction is due to start in Q4 2025, with the jacket installation set for Q3 2027 and the topside for late 2027.

Hans Leerdam, chief commercial officer at HSM Offshore Energy, said: “This contract represents a significant milestone for HSM Offshore Energy and underscores our position as a trusted partner in the offshore wind industry.

“The proactive approach taken by ScottishPower Renewables to reserve yard capacity early demonstrates the value of collaboration and forward-thinking in driving the energy transition.”

Ross Ovens, managing director for offshore at ScottishPower Renewables, said: “It’s fantastic to be working with HSM Offshore Energy to bring our £4 billion East Anglia TWO windfarm to life and produce more homegrown green generation for the UK.

“This contract is a great example of the innovative and forward-thinking approach we took to securing quality supply chain partners for the project at the earliest opportunity.”

The East Anglia 2 offshore wind farm will be located approximately 33km off Southwold and 37km from Lowestoft in the southern North Sea. Once operational, the 960MW project is expected to deliver power to nearly one million homes.
