German developer WPD has signed a corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for over 1GW of wind capacity, with around half of it coming from offshore wind.
Local press reports stated that WPD Dade Energy Group has signed a direct purchase cooperation agreement with TSMC for renewable energy with a capacity of up to 1.2GW.
WPD Dade Energy said it is the largest green CPPA in Asia.
Of the 1.2GW over 500MW will come from onshore wind power, said WPD Dade Energy.
Wang Yunyi, chairman of WPD Dade energy, said: “WPD Dade Energy is pleased to cooperate with enterprises in Taiwan that are interested in implementing the zero-carbon policy, which represents the recognition of WPD’s development and construction strengths in Taiwan’s renewable energy in the past 20 years.”
WPD is leading the development of the 640 MW Yunlin offshore wind farm.
