First power has been delivered from the first 300MW phase of China Three Gorges’ Yangjiang Shapa offshore wind farm off Guangdong province.
The project, which is located 28km off the coast of Yangjiang City, will comprise 55 5.5MW turbines when completed.

China Three Gorges said the project is expected to be fully operational next year.
The wind farm will cover an area of 50 square-km in water depths of 27 to 32 metres.
The project’s offshore substation was installed in August, with the first foundation planted in April of this year.
