Offshore wind operations and maintenance company Ziton is looking to raise the cash to purchase Vroon jack-up Enterprise, after securing preferred bidder status on a long-term service charter with Siemens Gamesa.
Ziton has issued a €35m summons to bondholders in a bid to exercise a purchase option it holds on the vessel, as part of the terms of a 34-month bareboat charter deal it signed with Vroon in May 2019.
The deal gives Ziton the option of acquiring ownership of the vessel, with 20 December 2020 as a final exercise date.
The move comes after Ziton was selected as preferred bidder for a service agreement on Siemens Gamesa assets that will run for three years and eight months from March 2021.
The agreement will see the Danish company secure a day rate of €26,000 for the vessel.
In the summons distributed to bondholders yesterday the vessel operator wrote it was looking to buy the vessel “to ensure the group will be able to perform” under the Siemens Gamesa contract
Enterprise is currently the largest of four vessels in Ziton’s jack-up fleet, and Ziton said exercising the purchase option is “a pre-requisite to sign” the long-term service contact with Siemens Gamesa.
