Acciona has won a contract for a 183MW wind farm in Chile through the country´s latest energy auction.
The San Gabriel wind farm, located near the town of Renaico, will supply 506GWh annually under the 20-year deal, the Spanish company said.
The output was awarded through Chile´s largest electricity supply tender to date, which allocated a total of 12,430 GWh.
Acciona´s contract will require round-the-clock generation between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2041.
The company already won a contract to supply 600GWh of electricity in Chile´s first auction for renewable and conventional energy in December 2014.
It operates a 45MW wind farm in Punta Palmeras since that year and is building a 246MW solar park in the country.
“The result of the tender once again highlights the fact that our renewables-based solutions are very competitive, even against conventional technologies,” Acciona Energia Chile general manager Jose Ignacio Escobar said.
