AEP subsidiary Southwestern Electric Power Company has issued a request for proposals for wind projects totalling 1200MW in the US.
Eligible projects must be at least 100MW and be operating by 15 December 2021.
SWEPCO is seeking to acquire new or existing projects that qualify for at least 80% of the federal Production Tax Credit.
Projects must also be located in, and interconnected to, the Southwest Power Pool regional grid in Arkansas, Louisiana, Texas or Oklahoma.
Selected wind farms will be reviewed for regulatory approval by the Arkansas Public Service Commission, Louisiana Public Service Commission, Public Utility Commission of Texas and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Interested parties have until 1 March to apply.
SWEPCO president and chief operating officer Malcolm Smoak said: “SWEPCO continues to see strong customer interest in more renewable energy to meet their sustainability and renewable energy goals.
“At the same time, SWEPCO is seeking proposals that will save customers money and further diversify our energy resource mix.”
