South American developer AES Gener has filed plans for an 863MW wind, solar and battery storage hybrid project in Chile.
The $750m Parque Terra Energia Renovable project will consist of a 350MW wind farm, 513MW of solar power and two energy storage banks made up of lithium batteries.
AES Gener said the hybrid development will be located in the Taltal district of the Antofagasta Region.
The company said the wind farm will comprise 50 turbines each with individual capacity of 7MW, while the PV component will feature over 1 million bifacial panels.
Work on the project will generate 620 direct jobs during its construction, AES Gener said.
Construction is planned to start in 2022.
AES Gener chief executive Ricardo Falu said: “With this hybrid initiative, combining three technologies, we want to ratify our commitment to Chile and its sustainable recovery.
“Parque Terra Energia Renovable is part of our Greentegra strategy, which aims to accelerate the decarbonization of the energy matrix by incorporating innovative and competitive renewable energies.”
