Danish outfit Alpha Offshore Service has completed its first 10 maintenance projects on wind farms in Australia.
The work has included upgrading turbine blades and main component exchanges, such as gears, in the states of Western Australia, South Australia and New South Wales.
Alpha Offshore Service is owned by Sparrows Group.
Alpha chief executive Mikkel Lund said: “We recognised the growing opportunity to deliver specialist inspection and maintenance services in Australia as its wind market continues to grow at pace.
“The Sparrows Group infrastructure in the region allowed us to move into the country quickly to begin delivering planned inspection and maintenance programmes which are vital to the ongoing productivity of wind turbines.
“Last year our business experienced an overall revenue increase of 46% up from 2017’s figures.
“Our move into Australia is part of our long-term growth strategy to expand our international presence.
“We look forward to investing further in the region and expect to see our success follow a similar growth trend for the foreseeable future.”
Alpha added that last year it completed over 4000 turbine blade inspections globally.
