Aneo has acquired the 130MW Bäckhammar wind farm in southern Sweden from KGAL Investment Management as part of its strategy to expand renewable energy operations across the Nordic region.
The wind farm, located in Kristinehamn municipality in Sweden’s SE3 price zone, comprises 31 Vestas turbines and has been operational since 2020.
Aneo said the purchase strengthens the company’s long-term position and diversifies its generation geographically.
“This acquisition is a new step in the work of building a solid and profitable portfolio of renewable power production,” said chief executive Gunnar Hovland.
The deal includes a continuation of an existing power purchase agreement with a major international technology firm.
Aneo will add around 355GWh of annual production from the project, bringing its total wind output in SE3 to nearly 30% of the company’s overall portfolio.
Executive vice president for renewable energy Kari Skeidsvoll Moe said: “Bäckhammar is a well-run wind farm with a good technical standard. It is a good purchase at a competitive price, with opportunities for both industrial optimisation and future development.”
Aneo said the acquisition comes as it undertakes internal efficiency measures and cost reductions to adapt to challenging market conditions, but reflects strong belief in the long-term prospects of the Nordic power market.
