US developer Apex Clean Energy is laying the groundwork for a pair of 300MW projects in western North Dakota.
The Homestead and Bowman wind farms are expected to include about 100 turbines each. “This is our current estimate, but it is too early to have a final count,” Apex spokesperson Dahvi Wilson told reNEWS.
Power is to be delivered into the North Dakota electrical grid.
The Charlottesville, Virginia developer is meeting landowners to guage interest in leasing land for the two projects.
Williams County, located in the northwest part of the state, has approved two meteorological towers for the Homestead scheme. Apex plans to file a project application with the county this fall.
The proponent expects to submit an application in late 2016 with Bowman County, located in the southwest corner of North Dakota.
Apex is targeting to start commercial operation in 2018 for both projects.
