Argentina’s first auction for renewable energy has attracted 6.366GW of bids, more than six times the capacity on offer.
A total of 123 of bids were submitted under the first round of the country´s so-called RenovAr programme to boost renewables, the energy ministry said.
Wind developers submitted 49 projects with a combined 3,468MW while solar companies bid for 58 plants with 2,834MW. The balance were biomass, biogas and small hydro developments.
The first auction aims to grant support to 1GW of renewable energy plants across the country.
The winners will be unveiled on 12 October.
