Austrian utility Wien Energie has started construction of the almost 28MW Trumau wind farm in the Baden district of Lower Austria.
Trumau will have a total output of 27.6MW and feature eight Vestas V117-3.45MW turbines with 91.5-metre hub heights.
It will deliver 51,000 megawatt-hours of electricity a year, supplying the equivalent of around 14,600 Lower Austrian households.
Wien Energie said the total investment in the project is €36m.
Wien Energie managing director Karl Gruber said: “The Trumau wind farm is an important cornerstone of our climate protection roadmap.
“With the wind turbines, we generate local and environmentally friendly electricity for thousands of households and businesses and save 30,000 tonnes of CO2 every year.
