Swiss energy trader Axpo has recently signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with CGN Europe Energy for an 82MW onshore wind project in Belgium.
Axpo Benelux will buy the full output of Belgium’s largest onshore wind farm, located in Estinnes, and will be responsible for the marketing of the power on the national power market.
In addition Axpo Benelux will provide market access and production forecast services to CGN for the wind farm.
The wind farm produces around 150 gigawatt-hours of renewable electricity a year from its 11 turbines.
Axpo Benelux Belgium origination head Joanna Juszczak said: “We are delighted to have concluded this transaction for this iconic wind farm.
“The PPA shows our long-term commitment in the Benelux market and serves as a signal that we are aiming for further growth. We look forward to working with CGN Europe Energy.”
Axpo offers renewable energy producers individual long-term agreements at guaranteed purchase prices.
PPAs for onshore wind farms continue to be one of the most “important growth areas for Axpo in many countries across the continent,” the company stated.
