Banks Renewables has welcomed consent for the 51MW Kype Muir 2 wind farm in South Lanarkshire.
Scottish minister issued the all-clear for the 15-turbine extension in September last year but the developer kept quiet until this week.
The project near Strathaven will push total capacity across both phases of Kype Muir to 139MW.
The initial project was awarded a Contract for Difference by the UK government and will feature 26 Senvion 3.4MW turbines when it goes live in 2019.
Banks development director Colin Anderson said the wind farm “will bring substantial environmental benefits and a potentially transformative economic boost to the area”.
