Banks Renewables contracts ZX MS at Scottish wind farm

Banks Renewables has contracted wind resource campaign management specialist ZX Measurement Services (ZX MS) to support its expanding development work in the UK.

ZX MS has provided Banks Renewables with expert data measuring, power supply and installation services for its Lidar system at the proposed Bodinglee wind farm in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, whilst ensuring communications for data transfer, data management and reporting to provide timely updates of project progress.

This complete wind measurement system approach has allowed Banks Renewables to access low-cost, reliable and accurate measurements using its ZX 300 wind Lidar.

Kasia Szczepanik, development engineer at Banks Renewables, said: “On proposed sites such as Bodinglee wind farm, where we are considering the latest wind turbine technology at increasing tip heights, Lidars are proving a cost-effective and practical method for providing vital wind measurements across the full height of the eventual wind turbine.

“The team at ZX Measurement Services has provided us with a professional and holistic approach to our wind measurement requirements, making this part of the project simpler and easy for our team.”

Ian Ravey, Managing Director at ZX Measurement Services commented: “With an exciting and extensive pipeline of projects across Scotland and the North of England, we are delighted to be working closely with Banks Renewables to deliver their full wind measurement campaigns.

“The proposed Bodinglee wind farm is just 25 miles from our HQ, so it will be great for our team to see this project reach each milestone in its development should it be granted planning permission.”
